Teen/Tween Carnival!

Children's Librarian Pat Rombach and I cordially invite children and teens ages 8-18 to the first ever Teen/Tween Carnival on Friday March 2, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m.
This event is free and will feature crafts, games, and snacks with a festive carnival theme. Interested patrons can call the library at 330-343-6123 to register and for more information.
This joint event is also a great opportunity for teens to give back to the community. I'm recruiting areas teens to help run the carnival tables. The list of games includes beanbag toss, pin the tail on the donkey, and fishing hole. Teens and tweens will also be making carnival masks and origami frogs! Also join us for facepainting and balloon animals! Any teen interested in volunteering should contact me as soon as possible.

Some teens have already donated their time and ideas to this venture. Our own awesome YA Crew is helping plan games, crafts, and even food. Teen groups at both Dover High School and Dover Middle School have also signed on to support the project.

The Teen/Tween Carnival is also an after-hours event. “We wanted to give the teens and tweens something special, where they are the center of attention,” says Pat “Plus, this way, we can spread out, take over the library, play loud music and generally party without bothering other patrons doing more serious work.”

Every season, the Children’s and Teen Departments have made it a goal to offer a joint Tween/Teen event. The Teen/Tween Carnival on March 2 is an ambitious way to meet that goal. For more information on other Teen and Tween events, please visit Dover Public Library on the web at www.doverlibrary.org, like the Teen Page on Facebook or call the library at 330-343-6123.
